About
Rebecca E. Pennington earned a BA in Elementary Education (1982), an M. Ed. in Integrated Curriculum and Instruction (2002) from Covenant College, and an Ed.D. in Learning and Leadership (2010) from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She joined the Covenant faculty in 2002 and currently teaches elementary and secondary literacy, assessment, and master’s level curriculum courses. Her 40 years of education experience span grades 2-8, ESL instruction, work as a curriculum specialist, college teaching and now Dean of Social Science and Learning Design. Her professional interests include literacy across the curriculum, assessment, and college-level instructional design. She loves reading a variety of children’s literature, promoting literacy for all students, and hiking the beautiful southern terrain.
Rebecca met her husband, Tucker, at Covenant and they live in Flintstone, Georgia. They have two daughters, Hannah (2011) and Aubrianna (2016) who are graduates of Covenant College.
